Has your smart speaker become a beloved member of your family? Spotify Free users will be able to hear their favorite music on even more smart speakers, including from Amazon, Sonos, and Bose.
The Amazon Echo is a handy device which can work with lots of applications like it's default service of Amazon Music or other services including Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio. If you want to connect Spotify account to Amazon Echo for playing songs, you need to upgrade to Premium because Spotify Free isn't supported connecting to Amazon Echo.
That’s right—free users in Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S. will, for the first time, be able to ask Alexa to play Today’s Top Hits, their Discover Weekly, or a custom-made playlist on their Amazon Echo or Fire TV. Free users around the world can also set up Spotify Connect with their Sonos speakers directly from the Spotify app. Spotify Connect works with all Sonos speakers, including the new Sonos Move, a durable, battery-powered smart speaker for great sound indoors, outdoors, and on the go. Spotify Free Users can now start streaming through their Bose smart speakers and soundbars as well. Through Spotify Connect, you can use Spotify on your smartphone or desktop as a remote to get the jams going.
To play music using your Smart Speaker through Spotify Connect, first make sure that your Sonos or Bose system is updated to the latest firmware. Then open the Spotify app on your phone, laptop or tablet. Play any song, then select the “devices” icon. Finally, select the device you want to stream from and start listening. Update June 23, 2020: Starting today, Spotify Free users in the U.K., Ireland, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, and Mexico, will begin to be able to stream Spotify through Amazon Alexa. Both Spotify Free and Premium users in India will also be able to stream Spotify through Amazon Alexa for the first time.

The company claims that users will now be able to request Alexa in English, Hindi or Hinglish to play music by artist, album, track, genre, curated and personal playlists, as well as podcasts from their Spotify accounts.
How to get Spotify on your Amazon Echo smart speaker
* Open the Alexa app linked to your Echo device on your phone.
* Now head over to the Settings Menu.
* Select the ‘Music’ option.
* Tap on the ‘Link New Service’ button.
* This will bring up a list of services. There you need to tap on Spotify.

* Now you will be required to enter your Spotify username and password.
Play Spotify On Amazon Echo
* After signing in, select the ‘Default Services’ button to set Spotify as your default music service.
After the connection of your Spotify account with your Amazon Alexa account is complete, you can request Alexa on your Echo device to play music or podcasts from Spotify. You can control music playback with voice commands like “Alexa, play Badshah songs on Spotify”, “Alexa, play meditational music on Spotify” and more.

Free Spotify Amazon Echo 3rd Generation
You can also control music playback from within the Spotify app. You are just required to say “Alexa, Spotify connect”, after which your Echo device will be discoverable in the Spotify app. You can select it and control music playback from your phone.
Spotify has also announced that it will soon be bringing support to other Alexa powered devices like the Fire TV and mobile devices. However, the company has not given a timeline as to when this feature will be made available to customers.
